Project: Facilitating Social Skill Development for Individuals with Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities"
I am currently facilitating improve-based social skills groups for children, teens, and adults with Autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities and taking pre and post-data on social skills, sense of belonging, and loneliness in these populations. Participating in this project would include facilitating the therapeutic groups under my supervision, as well as collecting, inputting, and analyzing data.
Student’s role
The students and other undergraduate and graduate-level interns would facilitate the groups under my supervision. This would occur 1-2 times a week during the summer for 1-3 hours at a time. Duties include supporting individuals in the group with participation and facilitating games. Students would also be involved in weekly supervision, data collection, and analysis.
Student’s criteria
Students with experience working with individuals with ASD, children or teens, or any theatre experience are preferred. They must also be willing to be outgoing and engage with participants.
Outcomes
Data collected from these groups is intended to be submitted to multiple conferences (ABCT, SRCD, INSAR, APA) and for publication.
Schedule
The group schedule is not finalized at this time, but it will likely be on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. The timing may be flexible.
