Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI)
SURI was founded in the summer 2020 and is housed in the College’s Research Aligned Mentorship (RAM) Program – a college-wide initiative that provides support for students engagingin undergraduate research projects in nearly all of the College’s undergraduate academic disciplines. Each summer, SURI recruits and supports first and second-year students to participate in a research experience supervised and mentored by Farmingdale Faculty. SURI’s model mirrors the National Science Foundation’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) by engaging cohorts of students in research projects related to a theme or cross-disciplinary interests. Through participation in the SURI, students are introduced to a new world of intellectual investigation and research. For many, this is their first formalized undergraduate research experience with the goal of furthering the interest and pursuit of academic and applied research.
