Caregiving Affinity Group
Mission:
The Caregiving Affinity Group aims to foster belonging, awareness, and support for faculty, staff and students on campus who identify caregivers - either parents of children or caretakers of adult family members. The Caregiver Affinity Group seeks to increase awareness and advocacy for the diverse needs of FSC’s caregiver employees and students through educational and social activities. The group aligns FSC’s inclusive excellence and strategic goals, as well as provides leadership in addressing FSC’s faculty, staff and student caregiving issues.
Vision:
Caregiving Affinity Group envisions itself to be a leading organization at FSC to foster an inclusive, just, and equitable community in which employee and student caregivers are valued, connected, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.

Goals and Action Items:
Goal 1. Connect and support caregiving employees and their allies at FSC.
- Build an inclusive caregiving community on campus
- Address caregiver members' concerns and needs especially related to work-life balance of caregiving and professional responsibilities.
Goal 2. Support caregiving (parent or adult caregiver) students' academic success at FSC.
- Identify and address barriers for student caregivers academic success at FSC.
- Help improve caregiving students’ recruitment and retention, especially among non-traditional and First- Generation college students.
Goal 3. Foster community engagement among caregivers at FSC.
- Provide opportunities for interaction, coalition building and friendship among members through social events.
- Organize educational events related to care-taking, such as education about existing family support leave programs and social policy advocacy related to care-taking.
